Only 8% of the HR managers believe that their team have the right knowledge and skills to face all the challenges related to human resource management and strategic planning, and that they are an added value for the company.

Tim Gould distils from Deloitte's report "Global Human Capital Trends 2014" that human resources management is not ready for the challenges of the future. The comprehensive report shows the opinion of 2.500 (HR) leaders about HR-related topics. Seen as the greatest challenge, HR leaders try to maintain and keep relevant staff and ' reinvent ' the HR function. Most organizations do not seem ready to tackle these challenges. Only the 13 % of the organizations are good at developing leaders. Two-thirds say they work on it. More less than a third of the responding organizations indicated that they are involved in inefficient employees’ retention policies.

HR under inspection
The report shows that nearly half of the organisations are precarious in providing the right training and experience in HR management. In addition, they fail to prepare the team and work environment for the business needs. According to the report, the main problem is a lack of skills and HR data for the organisational environment, the local labour market, technological changes and job change.
Deloitte considers extremely important that employers provide the HR team with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with all the changes and developments.

The report identifies three trends:
More than 62 % of the organizations bet for social media for recruitment.
Employees have to deal with an excess of stimuli and information. This is bad for productivity and employee engagement. 65 % of respondents also see this as an urgent problem, but do not know how to tackle this.
The respondents recognize the importance of developing and using new training methods, such as online and mobile learning platforms. But it shows only 6 % of technology usage. It definitely has to increase and companies should provide the right content so that employees can learn efficiently.
