In 2014, Triodos Bank saw a net profit of 17 percent, resulting in an increase up to 30.1 million euros. The Netherlands-based bank, which aims to be distinguished from competitors by sustainable and transparent banking, published this news on Tuesday, 3 March 2015.

According to Nu.nl, the profit was depressed by 8.3 million euros due to the mandatory contribution that banks must provide to the rescue of SNS bank.

Triodos managed to gain more customers last year, and now counts more than 530,000. Compared to 2013, this makes an increase of 13 percent. The total assets entrusted to the bank, including investments and savings, rose 10 percent to 10.6 billion euros.

The loan portfolio grew by 12 percent. Almost half of this growth resulted from mortgages, a market in which Triodos has been engaged for more than two years. The bank tries to encourage the preservation of housing by linking the interest to energy efficient homes – the better the energy efficiency category, the lower the mortgage rate.

The equity of the bank also increased by 8 percent to 740 million euros. The new capital comes from people who want to be a co-owner of the bank and buy share certificates.

For 2015, Triodos Bank expects the loan portfolio as well as entrusted resources to grow by 10 percent. Triodos is also counting on an increase in the number of customers by 10 to 15 percent. Unforeseen circumstances aside, the bank believes that the profit will be approximately equal to that of 2014.
