Nyenrode Business Universiteit is hitting the road. Over the next few months, the university will be promoting its MBA programmes in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. Marketers, Javier Arias and Sasja Heijman tell us more.

What can visitors expect to learn from Nyenrode’s MBA Roadshow? As part of the itinerary, there is Career Progress and Personal Leadership Workshop. Could you elaborate on this Workshop?

The purpose of this MBA Road Show is to bring Nyenrode closer to the business community in the Netherlands. The MBA Road Show sessions include an inspiring information session regarding the different MBA-options that the university offers as well as an MBA-level Career Progress and Personal Leadership Workshop. This workshop is focused on uncovering the different elements and dimensions of leadership together with the skills required to apply different leadership styles. Our aim is to allow participants to assess their leadership potential and the steps needed to become the best leaders they can be. Also, the participants will have the opportunity to share with Nyenrode’s students and alumni who have experienced the personal leadership development journey that a Nyenrode MBA conveys. An evening like this can only be concluded with a network drink during which the participants can interact with each other, our students and alumni, our Program Director and the university’s staff.

What kind of turnout and which groups of people are you expecting at the MBA Roadshow?
At Nyenrode, we strongly focus on individual attention and personal development. This can only be achieved in small and intimate settings. This is reflected not only in our events but also in our programs with a maximum of 45 participants per group. In that sense, we have planned the MBA Road Show for a maximum of 20-25 participants per city. This way, we are able to address each and every individual’s enquiries as well as helping them to assess the current state on their leadership journey. The events are designed for professionals with at least 3 years of work experience and a bachelor’s/master degree. Nyenrode invites professionals who are ready to live, lead and love business by becoming the best leaders they can be.

Nyenrode’s MBA programmes are all catered to working professionals. Is there a particular programme that is more in demand compared to the others?

Each Nyenrode MBA has its own set of unique values and therefore caters to the needs, wants and demands of different groups. The Modular Executive MBA concept allows for you to develop on a personal and professional level in your own pace and path. You can choose industry specific modules and compile them to build your MBA or follow separate modules. The Part-time Executive MBA immerses you in a true leadership boot camp of 2-week national and international modules in order to maximise fulfillment of your career and the careers of others. The Full-time International MBA program is an intense setting where participants learn about business but also live it and develop the skills to lead it. During this program participants interact with CEOs during the “Meet the CEO” sessions and develop their own capabilities on leadership, entrepreneurship and stewardship.

What do you think sets Nyenrode’s MBA programmes apart from others?
Nyenrode was founded by visionary leaders to rebuild the Dutch economy from the ashes of WWII. Being the only private university in the Netherlands, we are the business and believe you have to live, lead and love business in order to become the best sustainable leader you can be. Getting your MBA at Nyenrode is a 360° journey of discovering your personal authentic leadership, entrepreneurship and stewardship capabilities. It stretches far beyond obtaining a diploma or just a degree and immerses you in the challenges faced by (future) senior managers and executives through extensive focus on your career and personal development, in both developed and emerging economies.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
At Nyenrode, business is not a skill or a career – it is a way of living. Whether your ambition is to boost your career at a big corporate, make an impact on a small or mid-size company or to start your entrepreneurial venture, a Nyenrode MBA can provide you with the opportunity to comprehend, live, lead and love business.

For an expat moving to the Netherlands, getting the right direction is very important. It's important that one knows which steps and direction to take. Linda is an exceptionally talent counselor, her advice has helped me land a job within a week of coming to the Netherlands. Together Abroad provided expert advice on personal branding including developing a top-notch, market-aware CV, highly tailored job applications, and approach strategies with potential employers in the Netherlands. Furthermore, I found them be highly knowledgeable in key related fields such as recruitment strategy, immigration law, contracts, labor agreements, and (un)employment benefits. I would recommend Together Abroad to anyone who needs professional help with transitioning to a new career.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
