The Xpat Desk of The Hague Hospitality Centre

The Hague Hospitality Center is the first point of contact for (new) residents of The Hague. It has been created especially for expatriates who are working and living in The Hague.
The desk offers a welcome package to new arrivals and forms a point of contact between the individual expat and the municipal administration. It provides information on the services of various municipal departments (parking permits, marriages, registration of birth, converting driving licenses, rubbish collection etc.). The Xpat Desk also supplies basic information on health care and education, for example.

Expatcenter Amsterdam

The cities of Amsterdam and Amstelveen, together with the Immigration and Naturalisation Services (IND), have embarked on a combined effort to increase the efficiency of their services for highly skilled migrants in the Amsterdam Area. The ‘Expatcenter Amsterdam Area’ is situated in the World Trade Center in Amsterdam Zuid and provides a one-stop-shop service for highly skilled migrants and expats arriving in Amsterdam or Amstelveen.

Simplifying the process
A new process has been developed, whereby the employer can initiate the registration procedure for a residence permit prior to the new employee’s arrival in the country. Once in the Netherlands, the employee can then collect a national residence permit and complete municipal registration procedures in a single visit to the Expatcenter. Shortly after this visit, they will receive a citizen service number (BSN) by post, which is essential for opening a Dutch bank account, amongst other things
