In the early 1970s, senior personnel from Seaway Heavy Lifting Engineering B.V. were involved in the first offshore installation projects in the North Sea. In 1992, this expertise and experience was combined with a powerful crane vessel, and the offshore contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) was established.

SHL can manage and execute entire platform abandonment projects, from offshore preparation and cleaning to transportation and onshore recycling and disposal. During these projects, hazard-identification and risk-assessment techniques are applied to identify and resolve potential problems at an early stage. SHL ensures that all aspects of the project are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with the SHL management system and all relevant statutory requirements.
