Assessment Design and Innovation Researcher
Location: The Hague
Annual salary: 34,000 – 42,500 Euros gross a year upon experience

Nature of appointment: This is a full-time position based in the IB Global Office in The Hague. The Assessment Researcher reports to and is managed jointly by two assessment research managers. The purpose of the role is to provide research and analysis in areas of assessment and curriculum design as directed by the research managers.

Description of the post
This position provides research activities and data analysis to assist and inform the research goals determined by the Managers Assessment R&D. The focus of research will be on validating and improving existing approaches to assessment and ensuring new curriculum development has valid, reliable and deliverable assessment methods.

The post-holder reports to the Managers Assessment R&D. This team is part of the Assessment Design and Innovation department. Assessment Design and Innovation is part of the assessment division and together with Marking and School delivery, this division ensures the May and November examination sessions are properly delivered and that candidate results are accurate, appropriate and released on time. The job holder, under the direction of the joint Managers of Assessment R&D continually works to improve the quality and reliability of diploma and MYP assessment models. In peak session periods in May and November the post holder may be required to support the Assessment Quality Assurance team in determining moderation factors and judgements on examiner reliability and performance.

1. Bachelors degree in education, psychology or another field that provides exposure to research methods
2. Work or experience of at least 5 years in an education, nonprofit or academic setting.
3. Strong research and analytical skills for finding, reviewing, evaluating and synthesizing reports, articles, and publications containing quantitative or qualitative data
4. Strong ability to understand, review and evaluate education research theory, methodology and projects within national and international contexts
5. Ability to write and edit research reports, including review of proper research citations, techniques, and methods of analysis
6. Proven computer skills; proficiency with or ability to quickly learn MS Office and Web 2,0 tools
7. Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines
8. Excellent writing, editing and communication skills for communication of information on research; Strong English language grammar.
9. Ability to work collaboratively with IB staff across the organization
10. Fluency in English; French and/or Spanish preferred

The IB will consider applications from candidates with experience in leading international research with a history of published research findings in an education and assessment context. The IB equally values extensive and relevant experience in curriculum design and assessment implementation with at least 5 years of relevant experience at the IB. An ideal blend of research managers is to have a blend of extensive IB experience and outside IB international research.
