Clare Summerfield, Wealth Manager for Elliot Lloyd, shares why their team stands out among wealth management firms in the Netherlands and how intelligent and self-motivated candidates can be a part of her team

What does Elliot Lloyd do?
Elliot Lloyd offers wealth management and financial planning services worldwide. We help international clients at all levels of wealth strategically manage their investments while protecting them from risks around inflation and excessive taxation. Elliot Lloyd also provides personalized financial solutions like retirement planning and saving for children’s education.

How was Elliot Lloyd started? What is the story behind it?
I have a lot of international experience in the wealth management field and have always been passionate about service and professional ethics. Given my experience, I understood many of the hurdles faced by international professionals and saw the need for higher quality services in this sector. That’s when I started looking into bringing accurate and professional service to expats, in particular. It took a while before I managed to bring it all together, but I successfully opened Elliot Lloyd in March 2015.

What makes you different from your competitors?
Unlike our competitors, we offer our services to internationals living in The Netherlands and do not only limit ourselves to Dutch people alone. This casts a much wider net of clients for us, as the Netherlands is one of the most international countries in the European Union, giving us a strong competitive advantage.

Why have you decided to settle in The Hague?
The Hague is a prime location for Elliot Lloyd because we can easily reach our target audience of internationals here. Because the country is relatively small, it’s easy to travel to most other important cities from The Hague, like Amsterdam and Utrecht. I also wanted to have our office in the World Trade Center building here, because it’s more like a community than a simple business building. Most members of the Elliot Lloyd team live in The Hague, so it’s also very convenient for us. That said, The Hague is not our only location. Elliot Lloyd also has a registered office in London, and we’re currently looking to open offices in other countries.

What qualities do candidates need to be able to fit well with the Elliot Lloyd team?
What I love about my team is that they are very intelligent people. If I need something I can very simple brief my needs to them and they will know what to do to deliver the results I expect. I think that is what a member of Elliot Lloyd’s team must have. They will have to be able to think for themselves, not just follow instructions. Being independent, self-motivated, and capable of thinking outside the box are musts.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
What I would like to emphasize is that at Elliot Lloyd works with all internationals, including US expats. Sometimes because of the special regulations and taxes that the American Government has, other agencies will not be willing to take these more difficult case, but we do!
