Job boards are anything but scarce. There are countless boards available at your fingertips. With this countless amount of job boards in each country, it can often be hard to know which ones to use. Using every single job board will not necessarily increase your chances of getting a job. In actual fact, it will just take up unnecessary amounts of time. Imagine receiving over 1000 emails every day, believe me it is a complete eyesore. This is why I want to share my favourite boards that have actually been listed as some of the best internationally. How many job boards you use is your own decision. However, as with most things in life, it is quality and not quantity that matters. Knowing the most up-to-date and well-equipped boards at your disposal will most likely better your chances of finding the job you desire.

My favourite international boards for expats:

Indeed

Indeed is one of the most user-friendly job boards that exist. I have always experienced success when using Indeed. The high volume of results it produces can be a slight turn off for some users. Even with the most refined search, Indeed struggles to stay up to date – mainly due to the fact that advertisers are usually the ones to remove their own vacancies. It does not take on that job for itself. Still, it prides itself on being the number 1 job search site and in many ways it is. Indeed's many features and tools enable all users to apply for jobs successfully and with little wasted time. One very helpful tool is the customised email updates. Instead of logging in to find hundreds of job matches, Indeed will email you daily with 30 job positions that match your search. By doing this, the time spent extensively scrolling through each page of suggestions is cut down significantly. This also helps with filtering down your choices to ensure you are only applying to jobs that are both suitable and available.

Careerjet

Careerjet provides all job listings available on the Internet. The job site references listings from the recruitment agency websites, specialist recruitment sites and company websites advertising the vacancies as employers. The technology Careerjet uses is able to index job offers from multiple websites. Their daily index consists of over 10 million jobs, with an influx of over 3 million users each day. All users can rest assured that the listings featured on Careerjet are up to date. Listings can also be easily traced back to their original sites, though with the ability for users to query the database there is no need to visit each individual site. All the necessary information relating to a vacancy is easily accessible through their website. Careerjet also features a Web Publisher programme enabling companies to use the search facilities that Careerjet has to offer from within their own website. This gives companies the ability to stay on top of their advertised vacancies.

Monster

Monster is the type of job board that pretty much does all the work for you. Once users upload their CVs, the site works to find matching careers for those CVs. Various recruiters search the Monster database daily looking for candidates for their open vacancies. As a user, you will only have to ensure you have a strong CV and qualifications to match. Using this job board helps to save time since not only are you searching for jobs, but also job recruiters are searching for you.
Monster is not just for job searches; it aims to properly advise its users through Community information. The Community information pages that Monster offers show available positions, various news about your chosen industry and other support services. As a job seeker Monster will always keep you informed.

Together Abroad

Together Abroad is a recruitment specialist platform also known as a job board (but I am sure you already knew that). Together Abroad specialises in multilingual, high tech and ICT recruitment, although their job listings feature an array of positions. The main aspect of Together Abroad is the fact that it truly cares about its users. They aim to always help users gain their desired employment. Users are regularly updated with job search emails; they are offered helpful tips, ideas and knowledge through the supplement of useful articles. This board tends to go above and beyond for each and every user. There is an endless amount of information available for all job seekers and employers to utilise. They also host workshops, seminars and various discussions open to all. This prolongs enthusiasm in their users. Moreover, users also have the chance to grow because of all these opprtunities they can take part in. And especially useful is that all vacancies on their site are still available. Together Abroad rarely disappoints.

Every job board exists to help better the job-hunting process. Use the features they offer to better your chances in finding a job, tailor your CV, take notes of vacancy opening dates and only apply to positions you are properly qualified for. It may be a tedious task at times, but stick with it and the results will follow.

For an expat moving to the Netherlands, getting the right direction is very important. It's important that one knows which steps and direction to take. Linda is an exceptionally talent counselor, her advice has helped me land a job within a week of coming to the Netherlands. I am grateful for her mentoring and look forward to a great working relationship in the future.

Dr. Hrishiraj S | Clinical Research & Affairs Manager

Together Abroad provided expert advice on personal branding including developing a top-notch, market-aware CV, highly tailored job applications, and approach strategies with potential employers in the Netherlands. Furthermore, I found them be highly knowledgeable in key related fields such as recruitment strategy, immigration law, contracts, labor agreements, and (un)employment benefits. I would recommend Together Abroad to anyone who needs professional help with transitioning to a new career.

A. Aboufirass | Structural Engeer

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands

S. Bhattacharjee | FP&A Manager

If you are going to enlist the services of a "Career Coach" look no further. The only person you want in your corner is Linda van Orsouw. As an expat, you absolutely want to work with a highly skilled and knowledgeable professional who knows their way around the Dutch career/employment/job market. Linda assisted me in writing and positioning my CV, helped me organize and prioritize my list of opportunities, coached me through mock interviews and was there when I got offered a senior position only 2 months later. When asked I will only refer to Linda and "Togetherabroad".
