Since the Law Deregulation Review Labour Relations replaced the Law Declaration of Labour Relations on May 1st, large companies no longer want to hire freelancers, reports BNR. The big issue is how the Tax Authorities will assess whether paper agreements and actual activities correspond with each other. Large companies find this too uncertain, fearing that afterwards they will have to pay social security contributions and payroll tax for freelancers.

According to BNR, recruitment agencies also notice much uncertainty among both clients and freelancers. D66 expressed great concern about these reports, and the parliamentarian Steven van Weyenberg suggested to monitor how this law is working in the coming weeks and months, and what will be the consequences for the freelancers.
