We have shared a lot with you about our company, our events, the Netherlands as a country and their traditions. We feel like it is high time you got acquainted with some of our colleagues. This ‘recruiter’ blog will give you more insight into the life of a recruiter, the challenges they face, their most memorable moments and their guilty pleasures. This week we will introduce the Utrecht recruiter, Oliver Gell. Enjoy!

1. How did you end up in recruitment?

Recruitment has been something that I have wanted to be a part of for the past 4 years. In 2017 I received a phone call from Koen de Geus (branch manager in Utrecht) who informed me that they are looking for another recruiter in the Utrecht office. When I was offered the position, I was really happy that I was able to be a part of Undutchables.

2. What are the most/least enjoyable aspects of recruiting?

The most enjoyable part of recruiting to me would have to be advising candidates helping them settle within the Netherlands and obviously helping them find a job. Least enjoyable would have to be when a candidate doesn’t show up for an interview.

3. What is the biggest challenge of the job?

What could be considered a challenge but also one of the most enjoyable parts of recruiting would be meeting both of the candidates and the clients needs. I know that this goes without saying, but placing candidates in a position that suites them. Sometimes we have the vacancies but not the candidates and sometimes we have the candidates but not the vacancies. This is also a challenge.
