On Forbes.com a very nice, recognizable list of 14 things that characterize successful people. Where do you recognize yourself?

What do successful people do?

1. They know when to go on with something and when to stop. Some things never work out. And sometimes all it takes is a different approach or a little more perseverance. They make the right choices in time.

2. They do more than is asked of them. Success is only achieved by adding value to others. The more you do this, the easier it becomes.

3. They don't think failure is a problem. The route to success is never a straight line. It is a path of trial and error. Every failure is an opportunity for growth. Failure is part of the process of succeeding.

4. They know it's up to them to achieve something great. Continuous development and hard work are important ingredients to achieve something beautiful.

5. They know what they want and work purposefully. If you know what you really like and you can focus on it very well, it becomes much easier to actually realize it. Simple.

6. They always take responsibility for themselves and their own actions. For them, it's not about what someone else does. It's about what they do themselves and how they become better at something. They focus on what they themselves can influence.

7. They are proactive and create their own change. They do not wait. They realize the desired changes themselves. That's what counts.

8. They are flexible in the face of changing circumstances. They know that the world is changing at a very rapid pace and are constantly looking for new ways to deal with these changing conditions.

9. They tell their story very effectively. If you go up to a successful person and ask them what they do and why they do it, they will have a clear answer immediately. They are then able to convince you 100%. At any time.

10. They ask questions of people who can give them the best answer. Successful people know when to ask for help and do so. They create their own network of valuable people. And... they are always willing to help these people out themselves.

11. They choose lifelong learning. They are always open to learning something new. Going out of their comfort zone is music to their ears.

12. They know themselves very well. They know what their own added value is. And they also know very well what they are not good at and what they should not do.

13. They are much more concerned with the journey than with the final result. They enjoy the journey because they are constantly doing something that has meaning for them.

14. They are always busy. Always creating and growing. Their energy flows faster when they are working.
