There are several major trends for 2015 and recruiters need to look at how they are recruiting talent:

1. Recruitment is becoming marketing-driven
2. Companies need to have a proactive employer branding to attract top talent
3. Mobile recruitment via mobile phones and tablets to apply for jobs and it has to be easy
4. Employee driven market. Compensation levels will be crucial and prove challenging to recruiters as the war on talent increases
5. Talent pools
6. Recruitment becomes more personal through the use of social media
7. Candidates need to be treated well in the recruitment process. A bad experience can be damaging for a company and bad news travels fast
8. Video will become more important in the recruitment process
9. Retention is important as the candidate market becomes tighter
10. Companies underestimate the need to security from employees

Recruitment becomes marketing-driven
Employer branding is growing in importance as the opinion of employees and how they see their place to work combined with the ease with which they can communicate this message. A company’s reputation as an employer is what will attract and retain talent. Employer brand is critical and needs to be built correctly and the message used by recruiters needs to be consistent and yet personal. The basis for employer brand should be honest and yet make the company stand out from the crowd. The trend is to move away from a “one size fits all” strategy. What attracts a marketing person to a company is different from what attracts a web developer.

Use of social media for recruitment
The use of social media sites is changing as companies become more interactive and use social media to engage with candidates rather than just to advertise jobs. Once again, a personalised approach is the way forward – using different social media sites to approach different candidates. The content also has to be delivered in a way that the target audience will respond to.

Mobile recruitment
The trend of candidates searching for vacancies on their mobile phone or tablet is growing and companies need to react to this by investing in mobile websites. It is essential to make applying for a job simple and fast from a mobile device.
