New record in number of firms in the Netherlands

There are almost 1,5 million companies based in the Netherlands, which marks a new all time record. This is almost solely due to increase in number of one-man businesses.

CBS delivered these figures on Wednesday 15 April 2015. Accordingly, the number of small businesses with a workforce of one to 50 people has been increasing since 2010. Particularly the amount of one-man companies has risen by almost 25% ever since. Conversely, the number of middle-sized or large companies has overall decreased.

Most of these establishments are based in business services, healthcare as well as in the education industry.
