Acing the Phone Interview

Be prepared when giving phone interviews. Make sure there are no disturbances, in the background, for example TV, music and any noisy appliances should be all switched off beforehand. Furthermore, pets and children are quite unpredictable so make sure they are not in the same room as you, the last thing you want is a baby crying in the background whilst you are giving your interview.

If you are using your mobile phone or a Skype call, make sure your network connection has good strength. Having a poor quality network could cause problems and static in your conversation, therefore, play it safe and use a land line instead.

Always have your Curriculum Vitae and motivation letter in front of you. Glancing at the two documents will keep you on track of what to mention during the interview.
Remember your CV and motivation letter are an outline of who you are, and you will be asked questions on these.

Be organised and have your pen and paper at hand as it is useful to make notes, such as directions to the second interview.
