‘THE NETHERLANDS SHOULD FULLY OPEN UP LABOUR MARKET’

STRATBOURG – The European Commission urges the Netherlands to open up its labour market fully to Rumanians and Bulgarians.

This is one of the many proposals put forward by the executive committee of the European Union last Wednesday in order to save the European labour market. The Netherlands does not stand alone in this matter. There are a total of nine EU countries that will not allow Rumanians and Bulgarians to work without a work permit. This is also the case in Germany.

POSSIBLE END TO TRAVEL ALLOWANCE

AMSTERDAM – In the Catshuis (the official residence of the prime minister), negotiators for VVD, CDA and PVV are discussing the possible change to or even the end of the tax-free mileage allowance for employees. Today, employees still receive 19 cents per kilometre from their boss but this amount may drop to 14 cents. According to the negotiators this is a realistic proposition, landing them 500 million euro. Putting a complete end to mileage allowance has also been discussed.

DIARY ENTRY NO. 1 DO YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS, JUST SIGN HERE!

In between of the ups and downs of my job hunting the idea of starting my own business has been constantly present. People around me have also been very encouraging about it; I even got as a present for my last birthday a book with ‘100 sales ideas’. I keep a little notebook where I write all my entrepreneurial thoughts and possible business projects but I still haven’t managed to figure out what exactly my company should offer and sell

THE SACRIFICES THAT WE ALL MAKE

We leave our homeland in hope of a better live, a promise of a great future and persistence to make it abroad. Sometimes life throws us curveballs and doesn’t matter how much you would like to control your fate, we can only control how we react. Sacrifices. We all make them at crucial times of our lives. Some of us do it on a daily basis and the lucky ones can only read about it thanking god it isn’t them.
I always thought that leaving my country and moving to the Netherlands will make it easier for me to find a job. I saw my sister’s struggle to find a decent, well -paid job in Poland and I hoped I wouldn’t have to go through the same. Unfortunately, I picked the worst time to be a fresh graduate with no relevant work experience. I spent over 6 months desperately looking for job.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT: A DUTCH LOW

The Netherlands have one of the lowest rates of youth unemployment in Europe. Other countries, like the UK, have looked at the Netherlands in awe, trying to understand the secret of success.

Part of their success is rooted in their national culture: work hard, make money. “It is absolutely unacceptable to have our young people just sitting at home,” said the minister of employment Paul de Krom, quoted by the BBC in 2011. As a Dutch youngster, you are expected to start working as soon as you reach the legal age. Finding a 15-year old filling up the shelves of a supermarket is a very common sight. Starting to work from an early age teaches young people the value of money, allows them to start saving up and to slowly build up a CV.

For nearly 14 years Undutchables works with full satisfaction together with Together Abroad.
We started with just posting our jobs on their job board, and throughout the years our cooperation has grown into a valuable partnership.

Since last year Together Abroad present their workshop “How to find a job in The Netherlands” also at the 4 Undutchables offices to our candidates. We are happy to be able to provide such great and reliable service to our candidates.
And we look forward to continue our fruitful cooperation in the future.

Kirsten Jansen - van den Broek Undutchables

We have worked with Together Abroad as advertisers since their inception in 2009.

During this time, we have found them to be very responsive to our needs and very pleasant people to work with.

I would certainly recommend them as reliable and responsive business partners with an eye to the market and having their fingers on the pulse of the Dutch employment sector.

Ray Paker - Madison Parker International

I have known Linda since the inception of Together Abroad and have always been impressed by her passion for the world of internationals and the energy and drive they have invested in their business.

She have built an important portal for the international community in the Netherlands providing information, trainings and job opportunities to this group.

The job board is an important resource to Adams and gives us greater exposure to the jobs we advertise and an additional source of candidates.
