TOGETHER ABROAD JOB BOARD NEWS WEEK 19, 2012

The dangers of starting up your own business from unemployment benefit
The UWV (Uitvoeringsinstiuut WerknemersVerzekeringen/JCP Jobcentre Plus) offers several ways of starting one’s own business while still being entitled to benefits. You will, however, have to make an appointment with your job coach before you start actual preparations for your own business. Please note: if you should register with the Chamber of Commerce before conferring with your job coach, your benefit payment will be terminated. To ZZP (Self-Employed) Nederland this is a very dangerous and unfavourable arrangement
In case of you spending fewer hours on your own business than first intended, it will not be possible to readjust your benefits, you will lose all rights regarding the former benefit situation.

Employer offers too few chances for development
Employers do not offer their workers enough room to improve their position within the organization. This became clear from research performed by Effectory , over 300,000 workers were interviewed.
57 percent of workers score their possibility to better their position with a unsatisfactory mark and the opportunity for promotion scored 4.9 on average. In addition, there is also too little focus on career development (5.6) and educational training (5.0). According to Effectory’s managing director, Guido Heezen, this is due to low budgets for staff training and promotion is often not in the equation at all.

How learning Dutch can improve your (social) life
I know, Dutch is not the easiest, nor the most melodic language out there. Nor is it so widespread to be of use when traveling or moving somewhere else. Yet living here can definitely benefit from making sense of the Dutch language. Here is why: Understanding Dutch is good for general orientation. Sure, there is information available in English, but the letters from the bank or from the energy provider, for example, will be in Dutch.

INTERVIEW WITH MAUREEN ADAM –ADAM’S MULTILINGUAL RECRUITMENT
The Netherlands ranks high as a proper place where to start a company. What do you find are the advantages of setting a business here? When I came to the Netherlands, in 1991, there was a time of recession. So I did not set up a business because it was easy to do so, but because I saw a gap in the market, which was for international recruitment companies. I had always worked in recruitment, and I noticed Holland was not very international back then. It was not easy to set the company, as Holland has a lot of rules and regulations, and you may often need advice to get through the paperwork.
Over the last twenty years that I have been in the Netherlands things have changed a lot, especially with regard to international community. The main advantage of setting up a business here is that many of services that government bodies offer are in English and there are a lot of companies that specialize in offering help to expats wanting to set up a business. ..Read more

Diary Entry No. 3: For how many jobs did you applied this week?
I find it hilarious when speaking to my grandpa (who is 94 years old and, as you can expect from a man of his age, is spending his days at home with no mayor occupations) and asking him to do me a favor he replies – ‘mmm I’ll see I don’t know if I can find the time to do that’. Ahh!? How is it possible that he comes up with this when we both know he spends his days doing ‘nothing’? I’m used to tease him by replying ‘ahh well, off course, doing nothingRead the whole article by Laura Pardo

We started with just posting our jobs on their job board, and throughout the years our cooperation has grown into a valuable partnership.
Since last year Together Abroad present their workshop “How to find a job in The Netherlands” also at the 4 Undutchables offices to our candidates. We are happy to be able to provide such great and reliable service to our candidates.
And we look forward to continue our fruitful cooperation in the future.
Kirsten Jansen - van den Broek Undutchables
We have worked with Together Abroad as advertisers since their inception in 2009.
During this time, we have found them to be very responsive to our needs and very pleasant people to work with.
I would certainly recommend them as reliable and responsive business partners with an eye to the market and having their fingers on the pulse of the Dutch employment sector.
Ray Paker - Madison Parker International
I have known Linda since the inception of Together Abroad and have always been impressed by her passion for the world of internationals and the energy and drive they have invested in their business.
She have built an important portal for the international community in the Netherlands providing information, trainings and job opportunities to this group.
The job board is an important resource to Adams and gives us greater exposure to the jobs we advertise and an additional source of candidates.
