Huawei and Delft University of Technology jointly work on talent development
Voorburg / Delft, 2 April, 2014 - Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, signed an agreement with the Delft University of Technology to start the Huawei Authorized Network Academy (“HANA”). The agreement was signed in the presence of President Xi Jinping from the People’s Republic of China and Willem Alexander, the King of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. Huawei and the university aim to upgrade the skills of the students and enhance and promote education and research & innovation through this partnership.
Scope of project
Within the HANA project, Huawei will provide equipment, software and courses about several ICT products and solutions. Delft University of Technology will provide a location and teachers who will provide the courses to students. The courses will be finished with an exam and a certificate for the students if they pass.
Joint collaboration
The Delft University of Technology and Huawei have collaborated for a couple of years already in the field of advanced telecommunications technologies and through this agreement both parties want to strengthen this research collaboration as well. The HANA project is a next phase and should be a first step towards a more structural cooperation between Huawei and the university in which both parties share knowledge in order to create new and innovative products and solutions in the ICT domain with the possibility that both parties will set up other joint research activities in the future.

At this moment, Huawei is cooperating with more than 100 universities to open Huawei Authorized Information and Network Technology Academy in China, Europe, North America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Australia and other regions. In the next 3 to 5 years, Huawei will continue to increase its investment in education, extend the cooperation with over 400 colleges and universities around the world, and constantly develop qualified ICT talents in every country.
Huawei in WestHolland Region
Recently Huawei celebrated the opening of a new office in Voorburg. The Chinese Minister of Commerce, Gao Hucheng, and the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, Lilianne Ploumen, officially opened the office by cutting the ribbon. The new office reflects the rapid growth of the company in The Netherlands. Almost 250 employees will be employed at the Voorhaghe building in Voorburg.
