Twente is the export champion of Overijssel

Exports from the Overijssel region contribute 27% of the overall national exports; and therefore are a valuable asset to the economy of the Netherlands. Overijssel manages this despite the fact that it is not as conveniently located to the German border as other provinces in the Netherlands. Although construction and health care are strong features in the Overijsselse economy; these goods are barely traded across borders. Industry contributes to over a third of the export value of the province and agriculture also makes a substantial contribution.
The regional differences between the export capacities of Overijsselse regions are limited, however Twente leads. The region of Twente has strong technological characteristics and therefore contributes the most to the export of industrial goods. This can be put down to the fat that the world –class industrial firms of Ten Carte and Norma are housed within Twente; as well as the international label of Grolsch in the food and beverage industry. To the North of Overijsselse the transport industry is also important to export capacity with the automotive industries of Scania in Zwolle Floating export services. The South of Overijssel is ranked the highest exporter of agro- chemicals in Europe; and therefore impacts beyond meager wholesale trade.
