A similar study in 2005 showed that nearly half of employees found work most important in life but only 28% share the same opinion now. It also appears that more people prefer a well-paying job over a job that they like.
The research found another significant change in people’s work mentality – the where, the how and who people want to work with has altered. More than one third of the 633 respondents wanted to change their working hours.
The main reason that employees are working overtime is the workload. Four out of 10 employees make a work call or send a work-related email outside their working hours.
Eleven percent of the respondents stated that they read their work related emails e-mails outside their working ours but try not to answer.
