Adoption leave (adoptieverlof)

If an employee has adopted a child, both the employee and the child will need time to adjust to each other. Both parents reserve the right to take adoption leave. When employees adopt more than one child at the same time, they can take their adoption leave only once.
Employees are entitled to adoption leave when they foster children as well.
An employee’s adoption leave is permitted between two weeks before to sixteen weeks after the adoption takes place. Employees are permitted to take a maximum of four weeks leave, in which they will receive an allowance that matches their salary, up to a maximum amount.
