Frequently asked questions

Pregnancy and maternity leave (zwangerschaps en bevallingsverlof)

Pregnancy and maternity leave for pregnant employees can be taken for a minimum of sixteen weeks.
Because babies are seldom born on the date they are due, the period of leave is therefore determined by the due date and the date the baby is actually born on. Employees can start pregnancy leave as early as six weeks before the date the baby is due, but no later than four weeks. After giving birth, employees are always entitled to at least ten weeks of maternity leave, even if the baby is born later than it was due.
